Curator and researcher · Shenzhen / Hong Kong / & nomad
Yuting (Roxy) Tang is a curator and researcher whose work examines how exhibitions, catalogues and archives produce knowledge about art — and what happens when fiction enters those systems. Her writing and curatorial projects move between museum collections, contemporary art criticism and the moving image.
She is Chief Curator and Exhibition Director at Design Society, Shenzhen, and was previously Head of Research and Collection at Pingshan Art Museum (2021–24), where she co-edited the museum’s almanacs. She has taught at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shenzhen Polytechnic University. She holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London, and an MA in Western Painting from Nanjing Normal University.

Current research
Fiction, data and the museum catalogue
How parafictional practices — artworks and exhibitions that present invented documents, institutions or histories as real — enter museum catalogues, collection databases and machine-readable art history, and what this means for how art history is recorded and computed. The project combines archival research with digital-humanities methods.
Hong Kong cinema: restoration and canon formation
How restoration programmes, festivals and archives since 2011 have shaped a canon of Hong Kong cinema and its recirculation worldwide, drawing on archival and field research in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.
